Horseback Riding in Steamboat Springs

There are a number of ranches and outfitters that will be more than happy to take care of you and show you the beauty of the valley by horseback.

There are both winter and summer options for horseback riding in Steamboat Springs:

Saddleback Ranch: The great staff here offers 2-hour horseback rides through the winter with views of the Flattops, Sleeping Giant and Mt. Werner and offers some of the best sleigh rides in town. During the summer you can participate on a cattle drive and help the cowboys move their cattle from one valley to the next.

Elk River Guest Ranch: This beautiful ranch about 30 miles north of town, tops out on ridges at 9,000 feet. Ride through forests of pine and aspen with 1 & 2 hours rides, private riding lessons and wagon dinner rides

Steamboat Lake Outfitters (SLO):  Whether you’re a beginner or experienced, SLO will tailor your ride to your experience level. View wildlife and meadows of wildflowers. As the only operator on Steamboat Lake State Park, your ride will take you alongside lakes and under mountains you won’t want to miss.

Sombrero Ranches Based out of Estes Park, the wranglers set up right behind the rodeo grounds in town and offers rides up Emerald Mountain. You can even lease a horse for the summer season.
